A Silterstone Air plane earlier this morning veered off the runway at Wilson Airport as it took off for Lamu.
The company in a statement has confirmed the incident saying, “We can confirm that our Fokker 50, 5Y-IZO has had an incident while taking off at Wilson Airport at 09.00 am this morning.”
The operator confirmed that all passengers and crew we all evacuated safely.
Kenya Airports Authority, in a tweet said, “We wish to confirm that we have had an incident at Wilson Airport this morning involving a Silverstone aircraft destined for Lamu Airstrip via Mombasa Airport. No fatalities reported.”
Silverstone said it was working with authorities to access the situation.
